It was eventualy realised that the use of half cab "heritage" vehicles could not go on forever and customer research showed that the attraction was the open top, not the old bus. In 1997 the first rear engined bus to the city tour fleet was this Bristol VRT finished in a red version of the, then standard, green and yellow livery. The new "Sights of Oxford Circular Tour" branding was made possible by advances in computer graphics. It was withdrawn in 2008.
