Coaches 110 and 111 entered service in their previous owners' colours with Padbus green stripe branding and joined coaches 192, 197 and 199 (which have also gained Padbus green stripe branding) to launch new service X22 (Oxford-Stansted Airport). Scania K340EB/Van Hool Alizée DC13 ELD was on loan from Eldorado Motors for several months to provide spare cover during the launch service X22 and was given fleetnumber EM1.

Single deckers 565 and 566 have been allocated to service 29 (Witney-Abingdon) replacing Scania Omnidekkas 617 and 618 which currently held in reserve. Tri-axle single deckers 568 and 569 are also held in reserve pending service revisions in 2017.

Following the rebranding in May of the longstanding Oxford-London from MetroShuttle to "TheX10" the red MetroShuttle branding on all the coaches has been replaced by bold white "TheX10" branding.

During September the bendybuses on Park & Ride service 12 received red route branding in a similar style to that used on Park & Ride services 11 and 30.

Website Changes
The fleet information has been updated as above with a revised presentation. The Current Fleet and Fleet History lists have been merged to make one Fleetlist which shows all the vehicles ever operated by Padbus with their current status and allocations.

5 September 2016
Service Update
Park & Ride services 11 and 12 are exchanging termini from 5 September. Instead of the double deckers on service 11 running Redbridge-City Centre-Pear Tree they will run Redbridge-City Centre-Thornhill. The bendybuses on service 12 will change from running Seacourt-City Centre-Thornhill to Seacourt-City Centre-Peartree. This is to allow them to take more straightforward routes through the centre of Oxford. At the same time, the description of Park & Ride service 30 has been amended to refer to the Park & Ride car park as being at Oxford Parkway instead of Water Eaton. This is purely a change of name and does not affect the times or route of this service in any way. The timetable page for Park & Ride service 30 has been updated to reflect this change.
However, please remember that Padbus is a purely fictional operation so this route does not actually operate at all.

10 July 2016

The full timetable for this new service may be found here

Corporate Announcement

Padbus is pleased to announce another big step in minimising the environmental impact of its market leading Sights of Oxford Circular Tour. Two of its existing fleet of open top tour buses have been converted to full electric operation by Sheffield based electric vehicle specialists, Magtec. The conversion process involved removing 2.1 tons of diesel engine and gearbox from each bus and replacing it with 1.9 tons of battery packs, electric motors and solid state convertors. The buses now have no tailpipe emissions and even use regenerative brakes to further reduce fine particle emissions caused by brake pads. The battery pack is capable of holding 133kWh of electrical energy with charge time of 8 hours overnight at the depot using low carbon off-peak energy. The battery is made from Lithium Iron Phosphate and can be charged/discharged without memory effect thousands of times.

As well as the mechanical work, Padbus has taken the opportunity to refurbish the buses and apply new, up to date graphics.

The buses were launched at a ceremony yesterday at the Padbus Headquarters in Witney after which they conveyed invited guests to Oxford. The buses then entered service on the Sights of Oxford Circular Tour replacing two older, diesel powered buses.

The buses concerned are 317 (OA55 OAS) Dennis Trident/Alexander ALX400 PO45/24F and 318 (OM55 OAT) Volvo B7TL/Alexander ALX400 PO45/24F.

Fleet News
Despite the lack of Fleet News since December there have been some changes to the fleet and the following vehicles have been added:
27   (OW14 ABC) Mercedes Benz Sprinter M8 (4 May 2015)
28   (OW14 ABD) Ford Transit Van (15 May 2015)
108 (OW14 CAH) Scania K400 EB 6x2*4/Caetano Levante C59FL (18 July 2015)
320 (OX15 OAV)  Volvo B5LH/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 O41/24F (18 June 2015)
321 (OX15 OAW) Volvo B5LH/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 PO40/24F (10 July 2015)
558 (OW60 SCK)  MAN 18.240/Alexander Dennis Enviro 300 B39F (1 June 2015)
559 (OW64 SCL)  Mercedes Benz OC500LF/MCV Evolution B44F (5 June 2015)

Padbus has chosen hybrid diesel electric buses for its latest open toppers in view of the sensitive nature of the parts of the city in which they operate. They carry a new, simplified version of the open top livery. It is expected that their arrival will lead to the withdrawal of two of the existing open top fleet.

Single deckers 558 and 559 have been allocated to services 41 & 42 (Cheltenham to Moreton in Marsh) displacing Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renowns 532 & 533 (OE51 SBF & OE51 SBJ) to the reserve fleet. Dennis Dart/Plaxton Pointer 530 (X530 ABW) and Dennis Dart/Marshall (T531 UWL) have been withdrawn.

Coach 108 has entered service without the usual MetroShuttle branding.

Fleet News
Despite the lack of Fleet News since April there have been some changes to the fleet and the following buses have been added:
221 (OU64 HAW) Alexander Dennis Enviro 400H hybrid H41/26D (1/9/14)
560 (OT60 SCM) Optare Versa B38F (6/7/14)
561 (OT60 SCN) Optare Versa B38F (25/9/14)
562 (OV64 SCO) Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 B29F (3/10/14)
620 (OS61 LAV) Van Hool TD927 Astromega CH63/24DT (1/6/14)
623 (OV64 LAY) Volvo B5LH/Wrightbus Gemini 2 Lowheight hybrid H43/27F (12/11/14)
624 (OV64 LAZ) Volvo B5LH/Wrightbus Gemini 2 Lowheight hybrid H43/27F (12/11/14)

Astromega 620 carries MetroShuttle branding and replaced Neoplan Centroliner 290 which moved to the main Padbus fleet allowing Trident/ALX500 282 to be withdrawn.

Versas 560/1 carry standard livery with bright green route branding for service X20. They are the first buses in the fleet to be equipped with WiFi. They replaced Volvo/Wright Renowns 532/3 which, after losing their low-key X20 route branding, have been equipped with new green LED destination displays and generally spruced up ready for use on new services 40-42.

Enviro 400 221 is the fleet's first hybrid bus and entered service on Park & Ride route 30 starting the process of converting the route to double deck operation. The Park & ride services have all carried blue based branding but 221 carries bolder magenta branding for route 30. It replaced Enviro 200 547 but Enviro 200s 548/9 had their branding updated to the new magenta style pending the delivery of further hybrid double deckers. These duly arrived in the form Volvo B5LH/Wrightbus Geminis 623/4 which also carry the new magenta branding and, like 221, are equipped with WiFi. Enviro 200s 548/9 then joined 547 in receiving standard livery for use on new routes 40-42.

Enviro 200 562 is in standard livery and is the regular bus for new service 28.

The branding for Park & Ride service 11 has been updated to match that for service 30 but using orange instead of magenta. Buses 209-11/95/616 have received the new branding and have been equipped with WiFi.
