704 (OK03 XAD) Dennis Trident Vantage Hybrid/Plaxton Padbus Cabrio 4 APO60/39TL
Padbus has been at
the
forefront of providing wheelchair access to the top deck of open top
sightseeing buses. This bus was built in 2017 by Padbus Engineering
Services Technical Solutions in an attempt to provide the maximum
possible upper deck seating capacity whilst carrying a wheelchair user.
It is based on parts of two Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents
and has been equipped with a Vantage hybrid drive train. A diesel
engine
is at the very rear with batteries at the rear of the front section.
Electric motors drive the second and third axles.
Although generally successful in operation it was found to be too big
for operation on the Padbus Sights of Oxford Circular Tour so, in 2018,
it was withdrawn and sold to London Explorer.
